Pre-game Analysis: USA-CHINA Olympic Basketball Game
August 10, 2008- Since the start of the regular NBA season is still less than 3 months away, why not start analyzing with what the world is watching now?
This year’s Olympic basketball will be really exciting. I mean really exciting. On the opening day for basketball games, one of the highlighted games of the whole tournament is close to starting. That game is the game between USA and China.
Both these teams are favored by many. USA having the best of the best NBA superstars and China having home court advantage. This game will be one definitely remembered when it’s over.
Let’s break this game down.
For team USA, you’ve got the high-flying LeBron James and the 2008 MVP Kobe Bryant in one lineup. If that enough doesn’t scare you, they have the rejuvenated Dwayne wade and many other notable superstars.
For team CHINA, you have got Yao Ming who has improved dramatically ever since he got into the NBA and Yi Jianlian who has yet to play at his highest potential.
This game will probably be close throughout but I see USA coming out with the victory here. Why?
Here’s why:
1. Best of the Best.
The USA players are the best in the NBA. They will score and score and score and make you look bad at the same time. They have relentless energy and are determined to bring back glory to USA basketball.
2. Defense.
If their offense won’t kill you, their defense will. Aside from being talented scorers, these guys are one of the top defensive guys in the league too. Leading their defense is NBA sensation Dwight Howard who is predicted to be the next before-I-left-Los-Angeles Shaquille O’ Neal. Yeah I know team CHINA is tall. The average height of CHINA players is 6′7″ compared to USA’s 6′4″. As tall as they are, don’t expect CHINA to move as fast as USA. CHINA will be pestered by USA’s quickness and energy. You don’t have to be tall to play good D.
3. Confidence.
USA, coming into the game, are favored to win the whole tournament. I have no argument there. With that mindset, don’t be surprised if team USA plays with a lot of confidence or plays with too much confidence. It’ll either make them or break them. ![]()
Expect a lot of hustle, energy, drama and great basketball in this match up alone. I predict USA coming out with the win but I won’t count out CHINA just yet. Let’s just all watch and find out. Anyone knows what channel it’s on? ![]()
